Workplace Giving

Make a difference for refugees by donating a portion of your pre-tax pay

What is Workplace Giving?

Workplace Giving is a simple, easy and tax-effective way to support refugees.

By donating a portion of your pre-tax pay to Australia for UNHCR, you can help refugees on their journey to safety while also reducing your taxable income. Companies can also choose to match their employee’s donations to double the impact and inspire more of their employees to participate.

Benefits of Workplace Giving programs

Workplace giving enables you to provide regular support for refugees and displaced people. Each pay day, you'll be helping UNHCR deliver life-saving aid to people fleeing their homes.

Your gifts can provide shelter, emergency supplies such as blankets and hygiene kits, and protection services for people escaping conflict, disaster and persecution.

Benefits for employers

Did you know that Workplace Giving also appeals to employees of all ages? Millennials aged under 34 are the largest group of workplace givers, according to a 2020 survey. The survey also found 60 per cent of Millennials and Gen Zs plan to buy more from businesses who positively impact society.

Workplace giving can:

  • Boost employee engagement and morale
  • Improve employee retention
  • Attract skilled employees
  • Increase your company's social impact

Adapting Workplace Giving into your organisation can have a transformational impact on refugees and displaced people.

Benefits for employees

Individuals who donate will be helping refugees in a tax-effective way. By contributing a percentage of your pre-tax salary, you can receive the tax benefit instantly rather than waiting until the end of financial year. It won’t affect your superannuation, payroll tax calculations or your gross income.

How do I get started?
